City of Light

I have always been fond of a good city-scape. This image is no exception. You have a wonderful image here that really utilizes the qualities of the black and white format.

The image has a perfect sense of balance to it. The dark border on the top and large negative area on the bottom frame the turmoil of the interior workings perfectly. The crisscrossing mesh of streets and lines of light are simply fascinating to look at. Your choice to do this image in black and white really accents the value changes.

I think my favorite part is that delicious center area where all the detail is. The stark dark buildings looming over the highlighted greys of the background really give the image an imperial feeling.

Overall this is an incredible shot, and my only critique would have to be that it is one that is done quite often. Not with this impact or skill, but it does have a bit of the cliche tag hanging around it's neck.

Still, I would love to have this beautiful image in my personal collection.
