A very nice image! I like the way you have managed to turn a scene that would normally look cooler toned, heavily into the blues and greens into a warm toned image. The red sky seems to work nicely with the brown rocks.
My guess is that this was taken with a low ISO setting, an extremely low shutter speed and perhaps with a neutral density filter to slow things down evenmore. Doing so has lost all detail in the water, and I'm not quite sure if that is the way I would have taken this image. The majesty of the sea is related to the waves and churning action, that seems to have been lost here.
The other thing I probably would do if this were my image is to do some significant dodging of the dark areas on left side of the image. The dark mass is a bit overpowering and bringing out the details that are there would bring out the beauty of the setting a bit more.
There are many, many things that I absolutely love about this photograph. It's not unique in that I've certainly seen many shots similar to this one in terms of subject matter and style, but that doesn't make it any less beautiful in my mind.
First off, I absolutely love the palette of colors found in this shot. The fact that everything is tinted in various shades of purple, with a hint of red in the rocks and gray and white in the waves and the sky is perfection to me. Giving the overall atmosphere an almost ethereal glow. This seems almost like something out of a dream. (I particularly like how the sun is peeking out from behind the clouds in almost the exact center of the shot. That adds a nice touch.)
The water appears soft thanks to the long exposure effect, so that I have the sense of flowing water over the rocks. And the clouds all but seem to be racing along through the sky. However this is beautifully juxtaposed by the clarity and sharp detail of the rocks in the foreground. Which gives me a sense of grounding that would otherwise be lacking; I feel the rocks plus the centered location of the sun really make the shot stand out. Gives it a sense of purpose. That was well done on the part of the artist.
Having several objects off in the distance also helps to give a depth to the shot that I think would otherwise not be there as well. And it was a good call to not try and cram too much into the overall photograph. Most of the solid 'matter' is on the left, fading off into nothing but open water as we move to the right. Giving me the sense that there is something waiting just beyond the frame.
Overall this is an absolutely beautiful shot. And as I said before, while I've perhaps seen many photographs with similar concepts before, that doesn't make this one any less wonderful. There are many little things that make this one stand out to me and certainly put it well above 'average'.

Regardless, a well done image!

Congratulations to the artist on a job well done!
